Typically we take your design and convert them into XHTML, CSS and some JavaScript. This includes CSS drop-downs, link hover effects and basic JavaScript. If you need some advanced JavaScript please get in touch and we can provide you with a quote.
Any page where the layout or content is different counts as a page or design. Sometimes a design which will require a lot of dedication to convert, due to various complications in the design. In that case, we'll get in touch with you right away and let you know. There could be an additional cost, marginal, but mostly we manage.
No. Our specialty is hand-coded markup (CSS/ XHTML). This does include some JavaScript, but it does not include back-end scripting (PHP, Ruby on Rails, ASP, .NET, Perl, etc) or database work (SQL, Oracle, etc).
No. However, if you have Flash movies you want on your page please send them (or placeholders) with your order and we can embed them in the code using the web standards compliant method of JavaScript.
We optimize your markup to ensure it's friendly for search engines. This does not include:
If you need these addition services please email us.
Yes. The more pages you have, the larger the discount. Pages must be from the same project.
Yes. You don't need to send in all the pages when you first place an order. However, to take advantage of the discount received by ordering multiple pages, you must specify the expected total number of pages on your initial order.
Yes. You can ZIP up and send in existing markup which needs some tender loving care. This is a popular option for moving from tables based designs.
Before we start converting your design into code we usually require a 50% upfront. Once this has been paid we will begin slicing your template and it will be ready within 3 days from that moment onwards. This time does not include revisions; we always recommend you consider this stage as the last one in the design process.
The more information you provide the better. Here are some things you might want to considering sending in with your order include the following:
We prefer layered Photoshop PSD files. This means that the elements are maintained on layers rather than flattened together. Please clean up the layers in the file so it's clear to us how the design should look. We can also work with file types including:
PayPal - you can pay via credit or debit card into our paypal id.
Our billing process for every job starts with an invoice (soft copy over e-mail) sent to you which details the total cost with a breakdown of every detail. We expect a 50% upfront of the total invoice amount. On receipt of your advance our work will start. On completion we will upload your files in a secure server secured by a username and password, notify you of your login information by e-mail and the URL where the file is available for you to review. Once the remaining balance of your invoice is settled we'll email the files over to you.
We offer personalized discounts if you have ongoing work. The larger the volume, the larger the discount.
Once we've established a relationship with you, we are happy to offer monthly billing.
We're pleased to offer a 100% refund if you're not happy with the quality of the markup. Before we refund we'll do everything we can to make sure your project is successful.
We have no problem with signing an NDA on any project. We won't share project details with anyone.
RetroXHTML will not put your design on portfolio without your permission. Of course, we'd love it if you do allow us to proudly display the work in our portfolio (If you can, that is). Even better, if you could offer some kind words when you like our work.
Hey thanks...thought you'll never ask. We're a bunch of designers who moved to code a couple of years back, when we moved from print to online. And we've carried the same neurotic attention to detail that print demands. At least that's what we tell ourselves when we're sitting up at 4am trying to fix that one pixel line that sticks out in ie5.
We're based in Southern India - For those who've not been here - be here - its like going back on a time warp - here retro is a way of life!
